The RediScan No Touch Thermometer is a great way to check your child's (or your own) without having to touch them at all. It is so simple to use. You simple turn it on, point it at your child's forehead, and move it back until it beeps several times telling you it is taking the temperature. The first couple times I wasn't sure where exactly to move it to, but after just a couple trials it went really smooth. You pretty much just move it away from the forehead or toward it until you get several beeps (not just one).
I can see this being a good one especially for special needs children. Some kids just do not like being touched, can't sit still long enough or have physical issues that may make using other thermometers more difficult. The RediScan worked great on all my kids. From my littlest one who likes to wiggle everywhere, to my oldest who's skin gets really clammy. I tried a few times to use my temporal scanner on my oldest when her skin was clammy, and it would come back as an error. I used the RediScan and within seconds I had her temperature.
Comparing it with my other thermometers it seems quite accurate. I do think that many of the forehead type thermometers like this one do read a little cooler for the regular temp than your oral thermometers. The RediScan thermometer comes with a fever alarm that goes off at 100.4 degrees, but I think if you get in the high 99's your child may have a fever. Most of the temps I have been getting when myself or the kids do not seem warm read in the high 97's or low 98's.
Overall I think this is a great thermometer. I have been using the RediScan No Touch Thermometer as my primary thermometer, and will continue using it for my family! You can find the RediScan No Touch Thermometer and other medical needs by visiting Medical Support Products at http://www.mspinc.com/
Disclosure: I received the RediScan (and the temporal thermometer) mentioned in the review for free. These are my personal opinions.
