My dog is really my mom's dog now that I've moved away. Her name is Sonia and she's a very sweet mix of ... well, something ;) A funny story that happened involved her almost manic fear of vacuum cleaners.
ReplyDeleteWe used to live in a second-story apartment in Las Vegas, and one summer evening it was my turn to vacuum again. So off I went knowing full well I would be terrifying Sonia with my tool of fear. Upon starting the vacuum she immediately hid in the kitchen, which was the furthest place in the house from me. As I got done with each room, I got closer and closer, until finally I had no choice but to get near the kitchen to vacuum the dining room. As I turned the corner she bolted at a speed I swear could have beaten the world record for the 100 meter dash. Thinking she ran off to one of the rooms I had already completed, I continued on my way.
After finishing and putting the deadly terror machine away, I went to go check on Sonia and my mom. To my surprise, my mom hadn't seen Sonia on that side of the apartment, and so we started to look for her. Oddly enough, she wasn't in any of the rooms! This was a shocker, since the front door was closed.
Suddenly, I realized that the balcony was open. So I stepped outside expecting to see her cowering under one of the chairs, only to find nothing. Worried, something told me to look over the balcony and down at the ground. There she was, sitting up on the grass, one story below, smiling as happy as she could be, waiting until we decided to poke our heads out. Her fear of vacuums cleaners prompted her to jump from a second-story balcony onto the grass below!
Luckily she was ok and didn't hurt herself, but we learned a valuable lesson that day. Close the balcony door before you start vacuuming!

Aww, we lost our 5 year old baby to Lymphoma this year. She was a mix (Rott and Shepherd, we think) and a big ol' slobber bug.
