update on Kennedy... She is home!

>
Thanks for all those that sent us their thoughts and prayers this past couple weeks.  Kennedy had woke up with leg movements which eventually turned rhythmic and then had arm, hand and facial twitches with it.  We went in to the ER to see if we could stop the seizures, but they didnt stop.  We were then transfered to Childrens hospital and admitted.  She was hooked up to EEG right away, as we wanted to see if these showed up as she has had other tremors that do not show up on the EEG.  These definitely did...and at that point she was having 30-60 second seizures every 1-2 minutes!  We went to PICU to try to treat them a little more aggressively with meds that could make her really sleepy and interfere with breathing.  Those meds really didnt help much.  We also added a med which seemed to help some getting her seizures to 5-15minutes apart.  She then had a MRI done which showed damage/stroke like episode.....which explained the seizures because of the area of the damage.  We upped two of her current meds...which then have resulted in much less frequent seizures.  She was discharged Friday afternoon and we had only noticed 3 seizures that day.  Yesterday I only noticed one!

So now we are home and are trying to get her day/night schedule back in order.  She is sleeping in and staying up pretty late.  So I have been tired getting up with her.  I am hoping to catch up on some of the stuff here on my blog this week...but am taking things slowly.  So today I am checking emails and spending time with the family.  I will hopefully pick some winners tomorrrow on my expired giveaways.  I dont even want to weigh myself for mamavation monday...I can just imagine the meanness the scale is going to say after sitting around for almost 2 weeks, and eating crap from boredome, stress, tiredness and lack of food you really want to eat.  Anyways...until tomorrow!

  1. Thank you for the update. I am relieved to hear your DD is home and that you are all working on getting back to a routine. Don't worry about the scale, there is so much going on in your life right now. Either you will be heavier than you hope or may even be lighter due to the stress. No biggie, real life trumps any weight loss efforts right now, we all get that. Be gentle with yourself as always, but especially now.

  5. I'm glad you're both back home and pray your schedules get back to normal. I'll pray the seizures stay under control and that there is no lasting damage to her brain due to the stroke like thing. God Bless your whole family.
