About the book:
Bailey's Day tells the tale of Bailey,a black and white pointer, hooking up with her best friend, the wiener dog Frankie. All goes well with their visit to the swimming pool, their romp through the park, and their feast of tacos with Pete, The Taco Man, until Bailey suddenly runs into her owner, the mailman, out on his rounds.
About the Author:
Robert Haggerty lives in Tucson, Arizona, and has been a mailman for more than twenty years. Bailey's Day is his first children's book.
My thoughts:
Bailey's Day was a cute story telling us what we all wonder happens when we are gone and the mischief that our pets get into. I loved that the story was based on real pets and people. The story is fun and goes through a whole day. I think it is an easy one for beginning readers to read and comprehend. It is also a fun one for younger children to be read to. My daughter really thought it was funny.
The illustrations, by Bobbi Switzer were really cute. They really portraited the characters well and showed the fun they had throughout the day. I loved that the story was told with illustrations, yet the author shared home photos of Bailey and all the things he enjoys through the day. That brought even more of the dogs character to life!
