My goal was to spend more quality time as a family and become a healthy family.
This week she asks us to blog about what’s stopping you from getting what you want. Take a step back and look at your life and your current lifestyle closer. Identify the challenges your having, and preventing you from accomplishing what you want.

I have been trying to lead a healthier life myself...but I find with the kids I let them eat what they want, and influence my eating. As I was saying earlier today in blogging the weight away, we made cookies, ate ice cream cake and celebrated the superbowl with junk food. Well that isnt going to make us a healthy family.
I guess I really need to start pushing the healthy food with the whole family. Zach is an even more difficult one as he is soooo picky. I really gotta quit buying the junk and leave those options out of his choices...then he will hopefully choose healthier foods.
As for the quality time....well I am trying. This is something I really need to work on with Kennedy. Her disability limits what she can do, but I shouldnt use that as an excuse to let her watch tv most of the day. I really should be doing more and that is that.
Hugs.. the best you can do for your family is "shop" healthier.. when you look at the favorite family meals.. prepare them healthier.. make small changes and implement them.. it will most likely go unnoticed. my kids love brownies, cookies and cakes.. I've learned to make these things with yogurt or applesauce which cut back on the fat.. I make my frosting from scratch vs. buying in the store.. they noticed but they said they still tasted good and now they won't have them any other way :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you :)
Nothing wrong with celebrating once in a while. Monitor more what you consume in your regular days. I agree with fitlounge, if there's nothing to tempt you and your kids at home, then you won't have a choice. We have organic chips at home which I let them have on weekends (sometimes they even forget), it's way up on the pantry. If they cheat and eat on the weekdays (and I will know), I throw everything away --- yes, I did that once and they know I'm not kidding at all. No chocolates, soda, candies at all at home (not a huge fan of sugar). The only time they can have choc/candies is if we're attending parties & other kids are eating them (don't want them to feel left out), but even then, they will just have a little since they're not use it. They're like me, totally not drinking soda.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are totally aware of your challenges. It's easier to find a resolution if you know what your roadblocks are. I want you to think of what you want to do, and what you CAN do about these roadblocks and how you intend to deal with them. --- @ImAHotMom
