Congratulations Pumpkinlady!
Whether you consider angels to be divine messengers, spiritual guides, or the stuff of legends, you will find something to marvel at in Chuck Fischer's beautifully illustrated Angels: A Pop-Up Book. Fischer's original art, inspired by classic images from art history, is crafted into astoundingly intricate three-dimensional pop-ups with fold-outs and moveable parts. Angels brings to life the most captivating stories of these celestial beings, from the angels of the zodiac to Biblical angels to angels in the arts and popular culture. Much like
its subject, Angels: A Pop-Up Book inspires awe and wonder and is a unique gift book for all ages.
About the Author:
Chuck Fischer's paintings hang in some of the finest residences in the world. His designs have been reproduced on holiday ornaments and home furnishings, including wallpaper and fabrics in the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. He is the author of five previous pop-up books--The White House, Great American Houses and Gardens, Christmas in New York, Christmas Around the World, and the forthcoming In The Beginning. He lives in New York and Florida
My thoughts:
Angels: A Pop-Up Book puts the Awe in awesome! This book is simply awesome to check out. I found myself learning so much about angels while reading the text by Curtis Flowers. I loved reading all the interesting sections in the book that include, "Messengers", "A hierarchy of Angels" and "Secular Angels". All the facts about Angels are well written, full of information, and presented in interesting ways. There are pullouts, smaller folding stories, and the beautiful pop up pictures. The book is a wonderful piece of art! The beautiful artwork by Chuck Fischer is made into wonderful pop-ups thanks to paper engineerer, Bruce Foster. The pop ups are so beautiful I found myself moving the book around, to capture all that it offered. I myself am trying to figure out a great way to present this book along with my Angel collection. This would make a great gift book for Angel lovers, holidays(especially Valentines Day), and art collectors.

Gorgeous book! I visited Chuck Fischer's website, and aside from the pop-up books, only his paper plates, napkins, and note cards would fit into my budget! He does some beautiful design work, tho. I loved the fabrics and wallpapers.

I love popup books, and the Angels one is as you said truly AWEsome! I'd say I'd like it to give to my godson as a Christmas gift, but the truth is that I would like it for myself. :)
ReplyDeleteThe thing that stuck me most on his website was the two foot tall Tower of Babel ~ how in the world did he do that? Anyway, I now follow you on Twitter and am following your blog too. Thanks for the chance to win Angels and for bringing it to my attention.
BTW, I like your blog and plan to visit often.
I like the pop up Christmas books too

ReplyDeleteChuck's interest in historic houses and their interior design began in his childhood when he heard stories from his mother and her family about growing up in a large Victorian house in St. Louis.
